In today’s edition of Speed Linking we’ve got two great financial articles along with an interesting link to check out. As usual, these links are of Grade A quality (would I refer my readers to anything else?). Let’s get started.
- Getting Rich Takes a Few, Simple Steps – As I read through this inspirational post I got to thinking. How can I go through my life making decisions to become wealthy? From the looks of things, it shouldn’t be that hard by practicing restraint and living within my means while making responsible decisions. Read this post and learn one person’s story of getting rich slowly and surely. Then, put the technique into practice for yourself.
- Save for tomorrow or live for today? – This is a great question and something that a lot of people encounter when they reveal their frugal living to friends and family. You only live once, right? Why not live it up? I’m somewhere in the middle, but this post is one person’s great introspective on their life and finances. Check it out if you have a chance. It’ll get you thinking for sure.
- Angry Nintendo Nerd – This is seriously one of the funniest pages I’ve visited in a long time. Be warned it could be considered very offensive by some people. However, I just sat and laughed for half an hour watching videos here. If you’re a fan of video games at all, especially old school Nintendo stuff, then you should seriously check this out. You’ll waste an hour there, if not more. Highly recommended for comical value.
So what do I have coming up this week? I’m not really sure at this point. I am working on a piece about stress at work, how to alleviate it, and how to counter it, but I have a few other things up my sleeve too. Be sure to check back throughout the week for more stunningly good commentary here at Abandon Nest.

Welcome to the July 16 edition of Speed Linking. Some great articles around the web this week, so let’s get started right away. Mostly career and finance oriented today, but I’m sure you’ll like them anyway.
- How much do you keep in your checking account? – A good question to be sure. I generally keep $200 extra in my checking account, above whatever bills and things I have to pay. I use Money 2006 to forecast what I’ll need so I never have to worry.
- Tricky Interview Question: What are your salary expectations? – I think that more than any other question, this really trips up those of us without much experience. Whether you’re interviewing for a job as a cart boy at Target or a engineering position at a large corporation, you’ll be asked this question. I always have a hard time knowing what to answer. Free Money Finance gives some great tips on dealing with the question.
- One Tough Fly – For the week, this article takes the cake as the funniest one I saw. My friend Matt had quite the encounter with a beast of epic proportions. Read the story now.
That’s it for Speed Linking today. Coming up soon is a review of various social networking websites and how you can use them to advance or destroy your career. Have a great week!

Welcome to the Sunday July 9, 2006 edition of Speed Linking. There are lots of great articles around the web this week, and I found many of them in spite of my absence the last two days (you know how it goes, brother visits, life happens, etc.) Visit these pages and enrich your life.
- Cheap Strategies for Keeping Cool – Summer time is definitely upon us and its time to start utilizing frugal methods to keep cool. With energy prices headed up, the air conditioner is often out of the question for those just scraping by. This post by Boston Gal has 4 great tips to help you keep cool.
- Career Benefits of an Internship – This is a follow up to a post made over at Free Money Finance a while ago. The author discusses the comments on his previous post (including one made by yours truly) and gives some more insight. Great read.
- Free $20 Amazon Gift Card – Fill out the survey and receive a free $20 Amazon Gift Card. That’s all there is to it. I believe it takes a while to get the card, but you should receive it eventually. Never hurts to try. The survey takes about 7 minutes.
That’s it for this week’s Speed Linking. Watch out coming up for a new series here at Abandon Nest. Thanks for reading!
