Beating Boredom on the Weekends

For the first few weekends after moving out on my own, I didn’t really do anything exciting.  This was more a consequence of my refusal to part with money than it was of anything else. Since then, however, I’ve wised up and find myself busy at least one day of every weekend.  So how do I do it?  It’s easy if you follow one simple rule.

Take advantage of free tickets/offers whenever they arise.

By following this one simple principle you can end up doing so many different things.I detailed some of these things in a previous entry but have since found my principle has led to consistent fun on the weekends, and I didn’t just get lucky for one day.

You’re not confined to just community events like car shows and R/C planes demonstrations either. This weekend I attended the World Series of Video Games for free thanks to tickets distributed at work. It was a great way to get out of my apartment and have some fun. As a plus, I ended up with 2 free t-shirts. Next weekend I’ll be attending the Dew Action Sports Tour for free courtesy of my employer. Now, I’m not particularly excited about extreme sports, but it’ll be a way to get out of the apartment and around other people. Plus, it’s free.

My advice, check out any deals that your job may offer, or talk to friends and try to get free tickets to events like these. It’s a great way to beat boredom on the weekends.

Exceptional Home Entertainment - Media Center PCs

I’m sure you’ve heard of them. Media center PCs are everywhere and it seems like Windows XP Home has gone the way of the dodo, being replaced by Windows XP Media Center. How does a media center PC fit into your home entertainment system, and should you consider getting one?

Media center PCs are designed to be the center for all your entertainment needs. They hold music, movies, and games with a great interface to access all of them. I’d like to go over the pros and cons of a media center PC, and then maybe you can decide whether one is for you.

Pros:

  • Storage for everything you could ever want
  • Internet connectivity
  • Great interface
  • Excellent Gaming Platform

Cons:
